2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 onion, finely diced

800g (1 lb 12 oz) beef mince
500g (1 lb) pork mince
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 x 400g (14 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
250ml (9 fl oz) tomato passata
3 whole star anise
2 bay leaves
3 sprigs of thyme
3 tbsp soy sauce
½ cup cream
